Most of what a person knows
leaves when they do.
We built the company that keeps it.
When a business changes hands, by acquisition or succession, the assets transfer and the judgment that built them does not. Basalith captures how the operator reasons while they are still running the company, so it transfers too.
Most of what a person knows never gets written down.
Not because they do not want to share it. Because nobody built the right way to capture it while they were still here to make sure it was right.
Basalith is that infrastructure.
For businesses whose founders carry thirty years of judgment in their heads and nowhere else.
For families who want to preserve how someone thinks, not just what they owned.
For the generations that follow, who deserve access to the real version of the people who shaped them.

From the Founder
I built Basalith because I have already built something that worked, sold it, and watched it disappear.
Years ago my wife and I built a retail and ecommerce business from scratch. We renovated the store ourselves. We grew it through a lot of time and sweat. I was the visionary and the face of it. She ran management and operations. It worked because of the combination. Neither half would have built it alone.
We could have run that business well for a long time. Instead I left to build another company, and we had our first child, and we sold. Within five years of the sale, it was gone.
Here is the part that stays with me. On paper, everything transferred. The store, the inventory, the systems, the customer list. What did not transfer was the thing that actually made it work: how the two of us thought, the thousand small decisions we made without explaining them to anyone, the judgment that was so automatic we barely noticed we were using it. Nobody knew how to capture that. So it walked out the door with us, and the business could not survive without it.
That is the problem Basalith exists to solve.
Every business owner has a version of it. Decades of judgment that lives nowhere but in their own head. When they step back, it leaves with them. The successor inherits the systems. They do not inherit the thinking behind the systems.
It is not only a business problem. My parents built their lives in languages I do not fully speak, in a country that was not theirs, through decades I did not witness. What they know lives only in them. And I am still learning how to ask the right questions while they are here to answer.
That is the thing I keep coming back to. I do not want to wait until someone is gone to capture how they think. I want to do it now, while they can correct me when I get it wrong.
I am a researcher by training. I spent years studying what gives a life meaning and what does not. What I keep returning to is that people do not want to be remembered. They want to be known. Being remembered is passive. It happens to you after you are gone. Being known is active. It continues because you built something worth continuing.
An owner's judgment and a parent's wisdom are the same problem wearing different clothes. Both are decades of hard-won reasoning that usually transfer as fragments, if they transfer at all. Basalith captures how a person thinks while they are still here to keep it honest.
You deserve this. So does every family that has ever wondered what someone would have said.
This is not about living forever. It is about never fully leaving.
There is a difference.

The Legacy Guides
The people who make this real.
Basalith is built by a network of Legacy Guides, trained professionals who conduct Founding Sessions and maintain archive relationships over time.
The technology handles the complexity. The Guide handles the humanity.
Every archive is a relationship, not a subscription.

The architecture behind Basalith draws on peer-reviewed research in organizational succession planning, cognitive fingerprinting, personalized language model fine-tuning, and oral history preservation.
The technical foundation is documented at basalith.xyz for anyone who wants to understand how this works, not just what it does.

Basalith began as a family product, and that path is still open. The same method, for preserving how a person thinks rather than how a business is run.
For individuals and familiesWe are early.
The archives being built today will be the most valuable ones in twenty years, because they will have had the most time.
Every year you begin is a year the entity has more to work with.
Every year you wait is a year it has less.
Your archive runs on two permanent layers: one that holds every fact and memory you have deposited, and one that learns how you express, reason, and decide. Neither replaces the other.
